PD_2010_COTYPD_2010_ChauffeurJaguar’s spectacular new XJL 3.0D has been voted the top car for Britain’s chauffeurs and private hire drivers. It’s the overall winner of Professional Driver Magazine’s Car of the Year Awards for 2010.

The luxury limousine also won the Chauffeur Car of the Year category in the Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards. This turned out to be the closest-fought category, and the Jaguar XJL faced tough competition from the Mercedes S350 LWB and last year’s winner, the BMW 730Ld.

PD_2010_ExecutiveThe BMW 530d Grand Turisno has won the Executive Car of the Year class in the 2010 Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards.

The category turned out to be a BMW one-two – the innovative Gran Turismo finished ahead of the 530d saloon in the judging, with the Jaguar XFS in third place.

PD_2010_MPVThe recently updated and facelifted Ford Galaxy has maintained its stranglehold on the MPV of the Year class in the 2010 Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards, retaining the prize it won last year. The Galaxy finished ahead of the Mercedes Viano and a strong newcomer, the Peugeot 5008, in a hard-fought category.

Ford Galaxy’s popularity in the Private Hire sector hardly needs repeating. Market-leader Addison Lee has alone bought 1,200 this year and almost half of all UK Galaxy sales are accounted for by the Private Hire and Chauffeuring market.

PD_2010_Private_HireFor the second year running, the Skoda Superb saloon has been voted Private Hire Car of the Year in the Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards for 2010.

This year the new estate version of the Superb consolidated the Skoda’s position in a strong category with eight short-listed cars. The Superb fought off a strong challenge from the Ford Mondeo and the Citroen C5 to win the prize.

coty-BespokeA new category was introduced for the 2010 Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards– Bespoke Vehicle of the Year, covering specialist chauffeuring and limousine vehicles such as stretch limousines and van conversions.

The 2010 winner was the Grand Illusion Limousine Bus, based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. It features a customised interior, complete with neon lights, large-screen television, minibar and colourful, fun upholstery.
