For the second year running, the Skoda Superb saloon has been voted Private Hire Car of the Year in the Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards for 2010.
This year the new estate version of the Superb consolidated the Skoda’s position in a strong category with eight short-listed cars. The Superb fought off a strong challenge from the Ford Mondeo and the Citroen C5 to win the prize.
Mark Bursa, editor of Professional Driver Magazine, said: “The impact of the second-generation Skoda Superb on the private hire market cannot be underestimated. It’s a genuine game-changer, with outstanding luggage space and rear legroom for its class. In fact, rear legroom is so impressive that most judges gave it 10 out of 10 for this feature.”
Bursa continued: “Last year, the Superb saloon walked away with the class – and this year the estate repeated the trick. Most judges felt the estate version has made an excellent car even better. ”

A total of 33 cars were entered for the Professional Driver Magazine Car of the Year Awards, which were judged by more than thirty judges from the chauffeuring and private hire sector and the motoring media.
Other category winners were: Jaguar XJL (Chauffeur car of the Year), BMW 530d Grand Turismo (Private Hire Vehicle of the Year), and Ford Galaxy (MPV of the Year). The Jaguar XJL won the overall Professional Driver Car of the Year Award for 2010.
