PD_2010_ExecutiveThe BMW 530d Grand Turisno has won the Executive Car of the Year class in the 2010 Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards.

The category turned out to be a BMW one-two – the innovative Gran Turismo finished ahead of the 530d saloon in the judging, with the Jaguar XFS in third place.

Mark Bursa, editor of Professional Driver magazine, said: “The judges voted for innovation, with the GT taking the category win. Chauffeurs have been quick to notice the appeal of the GT model, voting it above the exceptional new 530d saloon.”

Bursa continued: “The voting in the category was a close-run thing. But once you get inside the Grand Turismo, it feels like it was specifically designed for chauffeuring. There’s just so much rear legroom, and the driving position is commanding. Factor in the versatile combined hatchback/boot arrangement; superb, driveable but economical powertrains; and an outstanding sat-nav system and there’s only one winner in the battle of the 5s.”
