Improved powertrains and interiors in Viano facelift
The Mercedes-Benz Viano is getting a makeover, with improved interior materials, cleaner drivetrains and uprated suspension.
Externally the facelift is subtle - new Viano is differentiated from previous models by a new, distinctive headlamp design reminiscent of the current Mercedes-Benz passenger car range and by a redesigned rear end.
There are more changes inside the vehicle, with new trim materials and seat upholstery, plus an upgraded cockpit with new control buttons and a four-spoke multi-function steering wheel. New ambient lighting in the passenger compartment includes individual LED reading lamps as well as fibre optic units, while the whole system can be dimmed. A new optional Rear Seat Entertainment system is also added.
The biggest changes are mechanical – front and rear suspension has been revised to enhance ride comfort, driving enjoyment and active safety. And under the bonnet, Mercedes’
BlueEfficiency technology means the Viano now meets EU 5 emission standards, while CO2 emissions are reduced by up to 15% compared with the previous models.
The BlueEfficiency technology is applied to existing four- and six-cylinder engines. This encompasses on-demand activation of major assemblies, a start/stop system and optimised low-resistance tyres. A new six-speed transmission, standard in combination with all four-cylinder diesel engines, also helps reduce emissions and improve fuel consumption.
