Climatecars moves up-market with Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid

PD-Mercedes-E300-hybrid 300Climatecars is launching a more up-market executive service next year, based on a fleet of Mercedes-Benz E300 BlueTEC hybrids. The London based eco-chauffeur currently runs Toyota Prius and Prius Plus cars, but founder and managing director Nicko Williamson said he had been looking for a more up-market alternative.

He said: “Our clients have expressed a desire for premium vehicles and now finally we have a luxury hybrid in the E-Class to offer them as an alternative to our standard hybrid. Climatecars is about offering a green alternative with superior service and at no extra cost, so the E300 BlueTEC Hybrid fits our mould perfectly.”

The company becomes the first UK fleet operator to run the E-class hybrid, which combines an efficient 2.2 litre, four-cylinder diesel engine with a 20kW electric motor, and can achieve a remarkable 67.3mpg combined, with CO2 emissions of 109g/km. Crucially, the hybrid battery pack is under the bonnet, so there is no compromise on luggage space.

Nick Andrews, head of fleet at Mercedes-Benz UK, said: “The E300 BlueTEC Hybrid provides both luxury and efficiency, and we are pleased to provide companies like Climatecars the solution to their vehicle needs.”

Climatecars’ rival Greentomatocars is also evaluating the E300 BlueTEC Hybrid as a potential replacement for its current executive fleet of Citroen C6 saloons, which run on biodiesel.
