Sovereign takes Lancaster Cars into the Cabot Global Group

PD website news Farooq Saleem Cabot 300Sovereign has acquired West London private hire operator Lancaster Cars, in a move that further consolidates the London chauffeur and private hire sector. Both companies are part of the Cabot Global Group and will retain their identities – for the time being at least.

Lancaster Cars is one of the longest-running private hire operators. It has operated for 48 years and in recent years has gained a solid reputation as a provider of environmentally friendly ground transport with a fleet of 50 Toyota Prius cars. The deal gives Sovereign a stronger position as a provider of ‘green’ ground transport to complement the group’s existing fleet of more than 300 executive vehicles.

Lancaster will continue to operate under the direction of Simon Hill, who is staying with the company for the long term. However, Lancaster’s clients will enjoy the benefits of it being part of a larger group with access to all of the services through a single account.

Cabot Global Group CEO Farooq Saleem (pictured) said: “The Sovereign business is growing rapidly. The acquisition of Lancaster is something we have been working on for some time and is part of many exciting developments we have planned in 2014. We have recently installed a new operating system which has enhanced and automated many aspect of the operation. We have strengthened the senior management team, bringing in a new group operations director, which will further improve the efficiency of the business and lay a foundation for the future.”

He added: “I am proud of what we have achieved over the past few years. Lancaster is joining a group with a solid foundation built through substantial investment in our staff, fleet and technology.”
