Transdev launches Black Car Service in London
European transport giant Transdev is making a major push into the London executive chauffeur sector with the launch of Black Car Service, running an initial fleet of 150 Volkswagen CC saloons.
Transdev is already a major player in London through its ownership of Greentomatocars and Trident Niven. Mike Tobin, managing director of Trandsev’s London private hire operations, said:“We’re launching Black Car Service in direct response to requests from our customers, and the market in general. Businesses wanted a professional, unbranded service to complement our existing Greentomatocars and Trident Niven offerings - and that’s exactly what we’re delivering.”
All the Volkswagen CCs are unbranded black cars, with black leather interior and free 4G wifi on board. Using the same advanced technology that currently drives Greentomatocars’ fleet of more than 500 vehicles, Black Car Service already offers immediate response times of 15 minutes in central London and a personal, customer-focused approach. All drivers are trained in customer services in Transdev’s training centre in Isleworth, West London.
Fleet numbers are expected to rise to 300 by the end of the year, with further vehicles scheduled for delivery in 2015. “Businesses have responded very positively to the new service,” said Tobin. “We have already signed up large clients who are delighted that we’re giving them a business class service without the price tag.”
Black Car Service joins Greentomatocars and Trident Niven to complete a trio of clearly defined brands in London. Greentomatocars recently announced plans to expand into the US and France, and a pilot service is currently under test in Washington DC.
