Mercedes reveals new, roomier E-Class estate
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the new E-Class estate during the ATP World Tour Tennis tournament in its home town of Stuttgart. Tennis ace Roger Federer joined Mercedes-Benz dales director Ola Källenius to take the covers off the car.
The new E-Class Estate adds the largest and most flexible load compartment in its segment to the well-received new saloon running gear and passenger compartment. The load space is 670 litres with the rear seats up, rising to 1,820 litres with the seats folded away.
The rear seat backrest folds down in a 40:20:40 split at the press of a button, opening up plenty of potential configurations between transport capacity and seating. Standard equipment also includes rear-axle air suspension, which ensures optimum handling even when carrying a full load. All-round air suspension is available as an option.
New four-cylinder engines include a new high-torque E220d with NOx emissions that are already below the limits applicable from September 2017. The new E-Class estate will join the UK range toward the end of 2016.
