Eric Bonful of Greentomato Cars is Professional Driver of the Year 2014

QSi-2014 300London Private Hire operator Greentomato Cars’ longest-serving driver has been chosen as Britain’s best private hire or chauffeur driver by Professional Driver Magazine, winning the Gold medal at the magazine’s prestigious annual QSi (Quality, Service and Innovation) awards.

Eric Bonful joined the company shortly after it started operating in 2006, and has worked for the firm ever since. He’s not only the longest-serving driver in the business – he’s the one the customers most frequently request by name.

Eric is also the hardest-working driver in the company too – working weekly hours that an investment banker would boast about. Why? Because he uses his earnings to fund a community school in his home country, Ghana, which is run by his wife. This now educates 400 pupils a year, and provides employment for 45 people.

“It’s an amazing achievement – and all possible because Eric does such a great job of driving and looking after his customers,” said Mark Bursa, editor of Professional Driver.

The Professional Driver of the Year award is for an individual private hire driver or chauffeur, who provides the absolute highest standard of service, in terms of driving skills, customer service, personality and ability to represent the company.

Eric Bonful came out top of a strong shortlist. The Silver medal went to Kevin Willis of Kent-based Chirton Grange, whoi was praised for his dedication to looking after his clients, often spending weeks on end driving clients including foreign TV crews great distances. “He really does go the extra mile for some highly demanding clients,” said Mark Bursa.

Bronze medals were awarded to two highly professional chauffeurs, Clive Pearce of England Limousines and Paul Alleman of Tristar Worldwide. “If you could draw a pen portrait of the ideal business chauffeur, you’d probably come up with a profile rather like our bronze QSi winners,” said Mark Bursa

The Professional Driver QSi (Quality Service and Innovation) Awards are the only national awards for the growing UK private hire and chauffeur industry.
