Mercedes-Benz scooped the top prize at the 2019 Professional Driver car of the Year Awards. Britain’s chauffeurs and Private Hire drivers voted the new Mercedes-Benz V220d Long as Car of the Year for 2019. The car also took the prize for MPV of the Year for the third year running.

Professional Driver Editor Mark Bursa said: “The Mercedes-Benz V-Class was the clear winner in the MPV of the Year category and is a very deserving Car of the Year for 2019.”

He continued: “It offers exceptional versatility as anything from an events shuttle to an aircrew transporter to a mobile boardroom. It offers high levels of comfort, massive luggage space and that crucial prestige brand. And this year it has gained new, improved powertrains and some superb new safety features.”

The Professional Driver Awards are among the most rigorous in the automotive industry. There are nine categories in total, and a two-day judging event is held in September. The Professional Driver Car of the Year is chosen from the nine category winners, and the awards were announced at the Professional Driver QSi Awards dinner on November 21, 2019.
