eVolt chargepoints support new Taxi Central EV fleet

Electric vehicle chargepoint supplier eVolt has completed the installation of three rapid chargers for a new Scottish taxi business. The chare points support Kirkcaldy-based Taxi Central’s five new Nissan Leaf EVs, which are now fully operational in its private hire fleet.

The installation includes an eVolt rapid charger, which can charge the 30kWh Nissan Leafs to 80% battery life in 30 minutes, providing on-shift EVs with essential charging capability; and two eVolt AC 7kW Wall-mount Chargers that fully charge the EVs in around 5 hours.

The funding for the charge points came through the Energy Saving Trust (EST) and Transport Scotland.

The move follows eVolt’s installation in Dundee, where there are more than 100 electric taxis, of five top-of-the-range 50kW Tri-Rapid chargers, which efficiently charge vehicles in half an hour, and a further ten 7kW chargers that are ideal for quick top-ups.
