Professional Driver magazine has won the hugely prestigious Automotive Business Publication of the Year award at the 2017 Newspress Awards.

Professional Driver editor Mark Bursa, (above right), received the award from Newspress managing director Tim Barfoot.

Mark Bursa said: “The award is recognition for all the immensely hard work put in by all the members of our small team over the past eight years since we launched the title. We’re extremely proud to have beaten some much bigger, well-respected and longer-running fleet and dealer magazines to win the prize.”

The judges praised our focused approach: “With targeted editorial aimed at a distinctly defined audience, as well as variety within a small industry, Professional Driver clearly has an understanding of its readers and what they really want,” the judges’ report said.

Bursa added: “We try extremely hard to understand the issues that our readers, face on a daily basis. We know there’s conflict and disruption in the private hire, taxi and chauffeur sector, and that’s not getting any easier.”

He continued: “We’re happy to take the challenge to the legislators, administrators and market interlopers that make your lives difficult, and we aim to provide a focal point for the sector, representing the needs of the operators, either through these pages, or through our growing programme of conferences and events.”
