Volvo starts online sales for expanded XC40 Recharge electric SUV range
The expanded Volvo XC40 Recharge pure electric range is now available for UK customers to order online. Three new versions of the compact SUV have been introduced, with updated equipment specifications: Twin, Twin Plus and Twin Pro. On-the-road prices start from £49,950 for Twin, rising to £52,950 for Plus and £56,700 for Pro.
The cars can be acquired using monthly subscription packages, which are expected to account for 95% of retail business. These are called Care by Volvo, and come in two versions: Fixed offers a XC40 Recharge from £619 a month over a three-year term; Flexible is an open-ended, rolling three-month contract from £769 per month.
Care by Volvo Flexible has an initial 30-day trial period with no notice requirement. After 30 days, the customer can change their car or end their subscription with three months’ notice. The monthly subscription also includes scheduled servicing, wear-and-tear maintenance, vehicle tax, replacement tyres and roadside assistance cover. Insurance can also be factored into the monthly fee.
The XC40 Recharge range has a 78kWh battery, giving a range of up to 259 miles on a single charge and recharging to 80% capacity in just 40 minutes when using a 150kW (DC) fast charger.
A full recharge using the 11kW (AC) onboard charger can be completed in eight hours, making it convenient for overnight charging. The clever battery design and packaging means there is no loss in cabin space and, in fact, an increase in the load volume available, with an additional 31 litres of storage space under the bonnet.
Standard specification includes power-adjustable heated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, energy-efficient heat pump system, front parking sensors and reversing camera. Recharge Twin Pro features 360-degree parking camera system, panoramic sunroof, 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, leather/nubuck upholstery, 20in alloy wheels and Pilot Assist with adaptive cruise control and steering assistance.
